The owners swear stone and bone: when looking at old photos and videos, they recently discovered beyond any doubt that Stupsi lived with them as far back as the fall of 1994 as a small black and white kitten.
If they had documented the birth at the time, they could now officially mourn the death of the world’s oldest cat. Because if Stupsi’s date of birth is correct, she would be about a year older than Flossie from Britain, who was born on December 29, 1995, according to the Guinness Book of Records, and is currently the world’s oldest living cat.
According to the “Bayerischer Rundfunk”, among others, Stupsi died in Altötting on Monday morning. Eventually she had become powerless and apathetic, unable to get up and so was put to sleep.
Owner Marina Tackovic, who has had an Instagram account for Stupsi for a while, wrote: “This is the last post, my heart stopped beating today. It went downhill really fast and now I’m free with my friends.”
A long, wonderful life is now over. “At almost 29 years old, I can be like a young cat again, without suffering and discomfort.”
Tackovic had taken Stupsi off her parents’ farm a few months ago to live with her and her family. The cat lady even had her own room there, it was said.
By the way, another cat is much older than Stupsi and Flossie. According to the Guinness Book of Records, Creme Puff is considered the cat that lived longer than any other cat. She was 38 years and three days old, but died in 2005.
