“The Walking Dead” Has Never Looked So Beautiful: New Trailer To Daryl’s Spin-off Even Breathes “Lord Of The Rings” Vibes

Norman Reedus has repeatedly stressed that his own zombie spin-off, The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon, should look and feel different from the main series. And after a lengthy new snippet from the forthcoming spin-off, we’re starting to get a glimpse of what he meant by that:

Sure, in the Daryl series, we’re back in the desolate post-apocalypse. This time, however, it is illustrated with, among other things, picturesque shots of the French landscape, as we see in “the living Dead“never seen before. The almost meditative camera flights around old buildings and immovable mountain peaks could also be taken from Peter Jackson’s “Lord of the Rings” trilogy – except, of course, that “The Walking Dead” has one or two zombies teetering on the sidelines.

Daryl in France

And yes, you read that right, in “The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon,” the titular hero involuntarily ends up in France, where he tries to figure out how and why he ended up here – not only requiring him to deal with new zombie variants, but potentially learning more about the origins of the undead pandemic. After all, since the post-credits scene of The Walking Dead: World Beyond spin-off, we’ve known it’s probably set in France.

Daryl seems to wander alone for a while, recording his thoughts on a small recording device. But of course it won’t stay that way. Of course, the cast of “Daryl Dixon” will not only consist of Norman Reedus, among others, “Harry Potter” star Clémence Poésy will also be present.

… and Carol is there too

But that’s not all: as was surprisingly announced recently, Melissa McBride as Carol is also dropping by, at least for a brief appearance, after we were actually said to appear in the series, which was originally announced as an offshoot of Daryl and Carol, will have to do without the survivor.

In a few months we will find out how they come together in France and what else awaits them there. “The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon” will air on American broadcaster AMC in fall 2023. A German date, let alone a German broadcaster at home, does not yet exist. By the way, the same still applies to the Negan Maggie spin-off ‘The Walking Dead: Dead City’, which recently launched in the US and has still not made its way to Germany.
