Sony A95K at a hammer price: One of the best OLED TVs in the world is now cheaper than ever – but only for a short time

The trade magazine Hifi.de rated the Sony A95K with 9.3 out of 10 possible points in an extensive test. Only three other OLED TVs have achieved this historically good rating: the LG OLED G3 (1,983.96 euros at MediaMarkt*), the Samsung S95C (2,499 euros at MediaMarkt*) and the Panasonic LZW2004 (2,209.65 euros at Saturn*). All prices mentioned refer to the 55-inch version (139 centimeters).

The Sony A95K offers them all OLED TVs with top ratings by far the cheapest price. The 55-inch model costs 1,763.87 euros after deducting the discount from MediaMarkt. So that’s the Sony more than 200 euros cheaper than the LG OLED G3.

The discount is only calculated in the shopping cart. You can also see the refunded amount of 335.13 euros on the product page. You also get free shipping from MediaMarkt and you save three times as many myMediaMarkt points as normal. The promotion will only run until Monday, June 26 at 9 a.m.

Sony A95K: Top screen thanks to QD-OLED

The Sony A95K is the flagship of the 2022 Sony TV line and offers a correspondingly high-quality image. Unlike the competition from LG and Panasonic, both Sony and Samsung rely on a so-called QD-OLED display. QD stands for Quantum Dot. In short: in each pixel the individual sub-pixels are not placed next to each other, but in a triangle.

With this special structure, the Sony A95K achieves a excellent anti-reflective coating, which is only surpassed by the LG OLED G3. In addition, there is an enormous viewing angle and a gigantic color volume. Thanks to the built-in ambient light sensor, the Sony TV also adjusts the image quality to the lighting conditions in the living room.

In brief: The screen of the A95K is absolutely top notch. And the sound can also be seen or heard. The display of the OLED TV vibrates invisibly and thus amplifies the sound of the TV. So the sound really comes out of the picture here. The Sony TV can even be integrated into the sound system as a center speaker. In this way, the A95K advances into areas of sound that remain denied to the competition.

Brilliant features at a great price

So you can save yourself a soundbar, but the A95K doesn’t come close to the differentiated sound of a high-end surround system. But that would really be asking too much. Furthermore, Sony’s top TV offers everything you can expect from a TV in this price range: 120 Hz, two HDMI 2.1 inputs, game technologies such as VRR and ALLM, Dolby Vision, HDR10 and a very good Smart TV menu from Google.

The only downside to the Sony A95K is the lack of support for the HDR format HDR10+. In addition, the OLED TV does not have a headphone jack. You can, of course, connect headphones via Bluetooth.

LG OLED C2: the affordable alternative to the Sony A95K

A significantly cheaper, but still very good alternative to the Sony A95K is the LG OLED C2 with 55 inches for 933.63 euros* also at the lowest price at MediaMarkt. This is the C2 in the color white/creme. The model in black costs 1,049.58 euros* at MediaMarkt.

The LG OLED C2 relies on a OLED Evo panel and thus also achieves good brightness values, which, however, do not come close to the appearance of the Sony A95K. Overall, the C2’s display is somewhat weaker in all areas. The sound cannot keep up with the A95K either. However, the LG OLED C2 also costs considerably less.
