‘Solutions for the Future’ closes registrations this week

There is only one day left until the closing of applications for the “Solutions for the Future” 2023 competition (Solve for Tomorrow), a competition to motivate young people aged 15 to 19 to engage as agents of change in building a better society, through technological solutions that meet key needs of their communities and add quality of life to their residents.

The deadline for applications has been extended Until June 23.

This is the tenth annual edition of this competition at the regional level, which includes the countries of Costa Rica, El Salvador, Ecuador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Panama, Dominican Republic, Venezuela, Barbados and Belize.

During nine previous experiences, Samsung Electronics has surpassed the initial motives that drove this project.

From year to year, its strategic value grew within it corporate vision for designing, encouraging and empowering corporate citizenship programs with an uplifting human and social projection.

The main objective of this competition this 2023 is to design and present a project to solve a problem identified in the reality of your community using STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics), and during the program you receive training in technical tools to optimize your initial approach, in order to come out as a finalist in the preliminary stages and eventually won the title of regional champion.

Namely

“Decisions for tomorrow” is intended for students in between 8th and 12th grade or its equivalent, between 14 and 19 years old, who are enthusiastic about the idea of ​​being part of a team that favors diversity of opinion and respect for the position of each member, and that these values ​​are reflected in the results.

Scientific spirit SFT 2023 feeds on STEM fields (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics), so it will be convenient and strategic for competitive teams to have natural aptitudes for these branches of human endeavor. In the semi-final phase, which will be held from July 3 to 14, young people will be educated in these four subjects, as well as in the areas of leadership, assertive communication and teamwork.

It’s July 21 finalist projects from each countryand on July 28, the winners of each of them will receive prizes and the opportunity to participate in the final regional competition, which will be held from July 31 to October 27, the day when the winning team will be announced.

In the 2022 edition, the Aquagraf project, designed and developed by students César Rodríguez, Gabriel Torres, Neitan Morales and Sebastián Quesada, with the support of Professor Yamilo Vega from the Technical Technical College of Athens, triumphed. They created a water purification system for the benefit of a community in the province of Guanacaste, Costa Rica.
