New hope for sequel? This DC heroine could still make a comeback

It was quite a shift when James Gunn (“Guardians Of The Galaxy”) and Peter Safran (“Blue Beetle”) took over the DC reins in late 2022 and rigorously removed what didn’t fit into their plan to build the new DCU. In the first months it was not yet clear how the sequels to “Black Adam”, “Man Of Steel” and Co. would go further. One of the first big shocks just before Christmas: Patty Jenkins’ “Wonder Woman 3”, which star Gal Gadot had only recently announced, was canceled.

It’s been a few months since then and fans now know more about Gunn and Safran’s plans. And already in March 2023 there was “Shazam! Fury Of The Gods” even has a brief, surprise reunion with Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman! The superheroine’s future was anything but certain. But now there is indeed a much brighter glimmer of hope on the DC horizon…

In an interview with Gadot herself has revealed that she will be slipping into her Wonder Woman costume one more time. “We’re working on it behind the scenes,” she explained, adding, “You’ll know when the time comes.” So the fact is: the role is not off the table for Gadot!

Is “Wonder Woman 3” still coming?

However, Gal Gadot being discussed in the DCU isn’t exactly new. In early 2022, Gunn and Safran revealed that they have spoken with the actress about future films and that she is open to making more appearances. In addition, it is still somewhat unclear what exactly led to the (temporary?) end of “Wonder Woman 3”. It was first said that director Patty Jenkins herself had left the project after a disagreement over the script. However, she later clarified that was not the case and that she always believed in the sequel.

However, it is not known whether Jenkins is still interested in “Wonder Woman 3” or not and who else could direct it. And of course, we don’t know if a sequel is even being worked on “behind the scenes” or maybe in a cameo appearance in another DC movie. Nothing is certain and everything is possible, but there have never been such concrete statements as those of Gadot above. So the chances of us seeing Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman again in some form are pretty high.
