From the creators of one of the most disturbing shockers of 2022: star power decomposition horror is out!

David Cronenberg (“A History Of Violence”) is one of the most important horror directors of all time. With masterpieces such as “Rabid”, “Videodrome” or “The Fly”, he significantly shaped the subgenre of body horror, but was not only celebrated by fans of harder cinema, but also found recognition in the art pages at the same time. Now, the Canadian filmmaker’s next chilling gag in The Shrouds awaits us.

After Cronenberg caused a stir last year with “Crimes Of The Future” and his movie was certainly one of the most disturbing experiences of the year for many viewers, the shooting of his new movie “The Shrouds” has now been completed. The highly anticipated horror film was shot in the Canadian metropolis of Toronto.

Anyone who has ever dealt with the work of David Cronenberg knows that we can expect another pretty crazy film here. At least that’s what the premise suggests. It revolves around an innovative businessman and grieving widower named Karsh (Vincent Cassel). He develops the possibility of a cemetery where visitors can observe the decay of their relatives’ corpses. Karsh rethinks his invention when people start destroying the graves.

While David Cronenberg not only directed The Shrouds but also wrote the screenplay, Vincent Cassel (Irreversible) is joined by two other big names on camera: Diane Kruger (Inglourious Basterds) and Guy Pearce (“LA Confidential”). Cronenberg is teaming up with protagonist Vincent Cassel for the second time after the historical film “A Dark Desire”, which was also not particularly popular with Cronenberg fans.

When “The Shrouds” will be released is not yet known. But you can probably assume that we can expect a release in early 2024.
