Science fiction about uprisings on alien planets, multiple parts, often release dates in December… no, we’re not talking about “Star Wars”. But that was almost the case: Because the idea of ”Rebel Moonsaid the director of ‘Man Of Steel’ Zak Snyder once as a pitch for a “Star Wars” movie. Although nothing came of it, Snyder’s idea still materialized and was now able to establish itself as one of Netflix’s biggest sci-fi franchises.
Due to “Rebel Moon”, two parts (at least) are already planned, which should even appear in different cut versions. But always nice and slow: First part 1 begins. Rebel Moon will be released on December 22, 2023 and now the first poster can be admired there.

The marketing for the sci-fi epic, which has been described as bleak, is finally kicking off after we saw the first scene footage a few days ago and during the big Netflix fan event even though a behind-the-scenes video you can watch here:
The only thing missing is the first trailer of “Rebel Moon”, which is certainly not long in coming. And then we finally get a better feel, not only of the optics, but also of the film’s story, which Netflix has said so far:
“Rebel Moon”: Ex-Imperial becomes a Rebel
In a universe controlled by the corrupt government of the Motherworld under the rule of Balisarius, the forces of the Empire threaten [Anm. d. Autorin: ‚Star Wars‘ lässt grüßen…] the moon Veldt. Formerly part of the Empire, Kora (Sofia Boutella) seeks redemption for her past. She makes it her mission Collect warriors from all over the galaxy to fight the army of the mother world.
In previous Rebel Moon news, we wrote that Deadpool star Ed Skrein will be cast as the tyrannical regent Balisarius. Skrein, who is featured in our news image above, is now credited by Netflix in the official image description as playing Admiral Atticus Noble. Whether this is just an alias for Balisarius or whether the Emperor will be played by someone else remains to be seen.
Also starring: Djimon Hounsou, Charlie Hunnam, Michiel Huisman, Bae Doona, Jena Malone, Ray Fisher, Anthony Hopkins voicing a character named Jimmy, and many more.
