One of the greatest anime series of all time becomes a live action series on Netflix: first trailer for “One Piece”

Expectations couldn’t be higher: Ever since Netflix announced it would be producing a One Piece live-action series, fans have been eagerly anticipating the first moving images of the Straw Hat gang. It’s not for nothing that the template is one of the most successful manga ever. The anime adaptation also has a huge fan base. Of course, they’re already excited to see what the pirate treasure hunters will look like in flesh and blood – especially after the last major live-action anime adaptation “Cowboy Bebop” failed to meet approval and is set again after just one season. .

The first trailer for the Netflix adaptation of One Piece has now been released. This gives a first insight into the fantastic world of the devilish fruit pirates, in which Luffy, played by Inaki Godoy, has to assert himself aboard the pirate cutter Flying Lamb.

This is the live action edit of “One Piece”

At his execution, the dreaded pirate king Gol D. Roger informed the crowd, “You want my treasure, you can have it. I have hidden the greatest treasure in the world somewhere!”

Spurred on by these mysterious words, countless young men and women set out to unearth his legendary treasure, the so-called “One Piece”. The adventurous Monkey D. Luffy is also impressed by these words and wants to become a famous pirate captain. The only problem: since he tasted the mysterious Gum-Gum fruit, he can stretch his body almost as much as he wants, but he can no longer swim – extremely bad conditions for a predatory sailor.

But whatever he’s looking for, Luffy will do it. He may not be the brightest candle on the cake, but he has a good heart and an iron will. So he recruits a skilled crew, including the swordsman Zorro (Mackenyu), the navigator and cartographer Nami (Emily Rudd), boat gunner Usopp (Jacob Gibson) and the ever-in love chef Sanji (Taz Skylar). Can this motley crew hold their own against the gigantic dangers they encounter on their journey?

One Piece premieres on Netflix on August 31.
