The Twitter user “DennisKBerlin” has 20,000 followers, calls himself an Antifa lawyer in his profile, loves football, fine wine and techno. Since the Berliner is always involved on the social media platform when things seem unfair to him, on the one hand he has built up quite a large fan community – but he is also regularly attacked for his stance on controversial topics.
Now he is being criticized again. The reason is one that he recently started Fundraising campaign on the “GoFundMe” page. It’s about Rammstein.
As DennisKBerlin writes, he collects “help for victims of Rammstein lawyers” there. Unfortunately, the first follower just contacted him, “who received the mail about Rammstein during the coverage,” reads the text published over the weekend.
And further: “It is an intolerable situation that victims of sexual violence are silenced while the perpetrators celebrate.”
The donations should help to help the follower legally. If more money is raised than needed, “the excess amount in this case will be used to help other victims, which will likely happen in the coming days.”
People immediately started donating: by Monday morning, more than 400 people had pulled their credit cards and more than €8,000 had been collected. The fundraiser’s original goal was already met on Sunday, and DennisKBerlin subsequently deleted his tweet that referenced the fundraiser.
At the same time, he pointed out that apparently there were people who didn’t like his fundraising at all: “Unfortunately, a campaign is being waged against me,” he wrote.
The methods are “disgusting”: threats have reached him by both email and direct message, countless times the collection is also said to be fake.
There has already been criticism of the legal handling of band members with the accusations against singer Till Lindemann. The German Association of Journalists (DJV) saw intimidation attempts towards research media.
The well-known law firm Schertz Bergmann had threatened legal action against the media in a press release. The fact that the Rammstein singer is silent does not stand in the way of reporting as long as there is more credible information, according to DJV national chairman Frank Überall. Media should not be intimidated by the press statement of Lindemann’s lawyer:
