Today on ProSieben: Ellen Pompeo Leaves “Grey’s Anatomy” – Is Meredith Really Out Now?

The hospital series “Grey’s Anatomy” has been on TV for 18 years and the fans’ fascination with the cast, illnesses and various catastrophes has never really waned. Over the years, viewers have had to endure some painful parting moments – whether it be death after a serious illness, accidents or simply a change of job and place of residence. Nothing lasts forever and in fact an absolute veteran of the series is really saying goodbye in the 19th season.

Actress Ellen Pompeo has played Doctor Meredith Gray since the first episode of “Grey’s Anatomy” and thus the lead role of the series. We were there when she did her first operations, when she fell in love and in love, when she herself was on the operating table several times and when she had to say goodbye to her loved ones – now she goes herself. On June 12 at 8:15 PM, the seventh episode of the 19th season of “Grey’s Anatomy” will be shown on ProSieben – the last episode with Pompeo for now.

Is Ellen Pompeo Leaving Grey’s Anatomy Forever?

Warning, spoilers!

Farewell is celebrated in Pompeo’s last “Grey’s” episode for now! And fans can breathe a sigh of relief at first, because Meredith Gray will neither die nor disappear without a trace. At first she just moves out and starts a new life in Boston. Research is being done there into what could be the cause of Alzheimer’s disease and Gray is known to be quite interested in that. In addition, her daughter is attending a new school in Boston.

In conversation with and her Grey’s co-worker Katherine Heigl (who currently stars on the Netflix series Always there for you), Pompeo revealed that she’s not actually saying goodbye to Grey’s Anatomy forever, but to her starring role in the first place. “No, it’s not a complete goodbye”she explained, adding that she could be back on the show for smaller roles as early as next year. It is of course not yet clear what that will look like in concrete terms.

Still, Pompeo remains true to the serial world. She’ll be in front of Hulu’s camera in September for a role in “The Orphan.” You can read more about this new project here:
