New in home theater: Over 5 hours of hard hitting Stallone action in one fell swoop – completely uncut with FSK 18

Just three months ago, Studiocanal brought together three of Arnold Schwarzenegger’s greatest action classics. Since July 2022, fans of the Styrian Oak have had the opportunity to put “Terminator 2”, “Total Recall” and “Red Heat” on their shelves in one fell swoop – and in the best quality available. Namely in 4K. Now Sylvester Stallone’s supporters must also get their money’s worth.

While there are countless movies of the cult mime (today only) as part of a massive, exclusive campaign for Prime users at bargain prices on Amazon – from the “Rocky” Collection* on Blu-ray for just under 13 euros to “demolition man”* and “The Suicide Squad”* -, there will be three Stallone classics fully unabridged in a 4K set starting October 13:

The Sylvester Stallone collection is available exclusively at Amazon and combines three tough battles for survival against very different backgrounds – sometimes in the mountains (“Cliffhanger”), sometimes in prison (“Lock Up”), and in the woods around the small town of Hope (“Rambo”). That makes three times high voltage with cult factor!

You can also get the 4K versions as separate editions, but you have to pay a lot more for them in general. Anyone who insists on only getting such sets if they also include content-related films should be happier with the solo versions – and at least get the “Rambo” trilogy as a box.

Then we have another tip for you: It’s worth checking out on Amazon now. For Prime users, there will be thousands of exclusive offers and promotions on October 12 only in all product categories. “Sylvester Stallone Collection”: 3x Action Cult From Sly’s Golden Age

While for many “Rocky” will probably forever remain the pinnacle of Sylvester Stallone’s work, and in the recent past has also been seen by his fans as the centerpiece of gigantic action star ensembles (“The Expendables 1-3”) and as an amiable killer shark (“The Suicide Squad”), especially for action fans, the 80s and 90s are a feast of testosterone-laden, muscular goggles that Stallone has burned himself into their memory. And from that marriage also come the three films that Studiocanal now combines in the new 4K box.

“Rambo” is for us not only one of the best action movies of all time and with John Rambo, he not only introduced THE role movie fans associate with Sylvester Stallone alongside Rocky Balboa. While many may first think of a sprawling action spectacle when they hear the name of the Vietnam War veteran of the same name, the first part, directed by Ted Kotcheff – unlike some of the sequels – is a relatively minimalist, atmospherically dense and incredibly gripping survival thriller, which has lost none of its appeal 40 years later.

Lock Up is one of Stallone’s unjustly neglected films. Even in the prison rip-off where Stallone, as inmate Frank Leone, is daily at the mercy of the sadistic prison guard, he fights for only one reason: because he has to. John Flynn’s no-nonsense, grim thriller offers straightforward, old-fashioned action entertainment and takes no prisoners – it’s rated 18+ for a reason.

“Cliffhanger” was one of Stallone’s biggest hits ever. The $70 million climbing thriller was one of the XXL blockbusters of 1993 and therefore has a place of honor not only in the vita of its protagonist, but also in that of the director. Renny Harlin was undoubtedly at the height of his work at the time – between “Die Hard 2” and “Deadly Christmas” – and delivered with “Cliffhanger” extremely exciting bombast cinema, which is always wonderfully entertaining. Even today.
