‘Ryan Reynolds Hates Me’: This Actor Will Probably Never Work With The ‘Deadpool’ Star Again

It had been suspiciously quiet about “Deadpool 3” for a long time, until Ryan Reynolds recently dropped the bomb on Twitter: Not only was the comedy hit directed by Shawn Levy (“Free Guy”) set to hit theaters in September 2024. goal. Hugh Jackman will also reprise his iconic role of Wolverine here. The expectation is therefore correspondingly high. TJ Miller (“Silicon Valley”), who is known as bartender Weasel to the previous “Deadpool” actors, doesn’t have a good relationship with Ryan Reynolds at all.

Anyone who’s seen “Deadpool” and “Deadpool 2” knows that Weasel wasn’t an extremely important character for the two films, but as the best friend of Wade Wilson aka Deadpool, he was good for some laughs in the role of the wise sidekick. TJ Miller was a guest on Adam Corolla’s show podcast and talked about his relationship with Ryan Reynolds. According to Miller, the superstar has changed dramatically since Deadpool’s success:

I got on much better with him in the first “Deadpool” because he wasn’t a big movie star. Would I work with him again? no But that’s what I said about Michael Bay and now we are friends and I would work with him again. But I think Michael Bay is different.”

Speaking to Adam Corolla, TJ Miller describes a moment on the set of Deadpool 2 that arguably defined the rift between the two actors: “We had a very strange moment when we were filming ‘Deadpool 2’. turned. Ryan Reynolds said to me, ‘Let’s do one more take,’ but he was incredibly mean to me as Deadpool, like I was actually a weasel. He said: “You know what’s so great about you, Weasel? You’re not the star, but you get just enough exposure to make it funny, and then we can move on to the real movie.’”

I think that was Ryan Reynolds’ way of letting TJ Miller know he wasn’t the main character, just his nice addition. What may have been intended as a harmless attempt at another meta-gag seems to have hit Miller hard. The actor does not want to return to Shawn Levy’s Deadpool 3 because of the bad experience – but he added that there have been no requests at all. Miller also noted: “I think it’s strange that he hates me. […] I’m at the point in my life where I don’t do ‘Deadpool 3’ anymore.”

The fact that TJ Miller himself does not seem to be a particularly social personality has also been no secret for a number of years. In 2018, he left the HBO series Silicon Valley after four seasons. His colleague at the time, Alice Wetterlund, described TJ Miller as “cruel” and a “short-tempered brat”. Most recently, Miller, who also works as a comedian, co-starred with Kristen Stewart in the underwater monster movie Underwater.
