Puked out of solidarity: Woody Harrelson mainly received support from his colleagues on the set of a cult series

Cheers is a cult sitcom whose finale aired 30 years ago. To mark the anniversary, two of the show’s stars, Ted Danson and George Wendt, appeared at the annual ATX Television Festival in Austin, Texas and shared a few secrets. A story emerged that shows that solidarity can be expressed in very particular forms.

“One night we had Chinese food and Woody found out after about 20 minutes that he had eaten pork,” said Wendt. “And he decided to throw up. So I said to him, “I’m going to puke with you out of solidarity.” And Ted said, ‘Me too!’”

Context: Woody Harrelson, who co-starred with Ted Danson and George Wendt in Cheers Season 4, is a vegetarian. This forced him to empty his stomach on his own. As Wendt noted in the conversation, the trio had a good time puking: “There were only three stalls in the men’s room. And I’ll tell you one thing, don’t laugh if you’re throwing up.”

Woody Harrelson fought for solidarity

As the reported, Ted Danson also revealed that he and Wendt also tried to bully Woody Harrelson on occasion: “We were both around 37 when Woody came to us at 25. We were like, ‘Okay, let’s finish him.’ We took him to the basketball court because we thought we were pretty good basketball players and he just blew us away.”

But that’s not all: after Harrelson also defeated his two opponents in arm wrestling, Danson and Wendt decided to challenge him in chess – and were also defeated. With the Harrelson arguably earned the respect of his (slightly) older colleagues, which eventually led to this unusual but beautiful gesture of puking on the toilet together.
