The Panama U-20 women’s national team participating in the 2023 Sud Ladies Cup lost 3-1 to local France in their debut at the tournament played at the Parc Des Sports stadium.
The French team scored through Fanny Rossi in the 11th minute, and Léa Bourgain increased the score in the 24th minute.
While Dona Scannapieco converted the third French goal after 28 minutes.
For their part, Panama converted their only score thanks to Diana Pon, who sent the ball into the net after a rebound in the penalty area.
During the first half of the game, Panama had its chances to score through Meredith Rosas and Regina Espino, but failed.
Even midfielder and captain Deysiré Salazar had his chance to score for Panama, taking a free kick, but he missed his attempt to score in the second half.
After these results, the national teams of Japan and France lead the tournament with three points, while Cameroon and Panama have no points.
The next match Panama will play this Friday is against the Asian national team of Japan.
The Sud Ladies Cup 2023 tournament serves as a preparation for the CONCACAF World Cup, which will be played in the Dominican Republic from May 24 to June 3, and which awards three places to the World Cup category.
