The number of employees also increased by 3.4 percent

Salaries in large companies grew by 5% during the first quarter of this year. This is how the Tax Administration collects it in its statistics published yesterday, Traffic, employment and wages in large companies. According to the figures available from the State Treasury, companies managed to increase their turnover at the beginning of this year 2023. After deflation and adjustment for seasonal and calendar variations, sales rose 4%, while the number of employees also rose, 3.4%.

In the month of March alone, revenues increased by 8%, six points higher than the rate recorded in February. The Tax Administration explains that this strong growth is largely the result of the negative effect of the carrier strike that paralyzed the country in March of last year.

Exports increased by 5.4% in the quarter, and by 10.3% in March, which is almost 8 points more than the one recorded in February. In terms of destination markets, the sales of Spanish companies in the countries of the European Union showed greater strength (6% in the quarter and 12.9% in March) than those directed to third countries, which increased by 4.8% in the quarter.
