He was accused of money laundering in the investigation into the origins of the Wars of Wealth

He is the former brother-in-law of the former Economic Vice President Jose Maria Aznar accused of money laundering in the investigation into the origins of the Wealth Wars, which the court in Madrid submitted to the provincial court last year for criminal prosecution, after seven years of investigation.
In this case, Rato is accused of criminal offenses against the State Treasury in the period from 2005 to 2015, money laundering and corruption between individuals during the assignment of Bankie advertising campaigns to Zenith and Publicis agencies while he was the head of that entity.
