Tocumen Airport mobilized 4.2 million passengers

He Tocumen International Airport handled more than 4.2 million passengers during the first quarter of this year.

In the month of March alone, 1 million 468 thousand 648 passengers were mobilized, according to Tocumen SA reports

As of March, Tocumen maintained direct flights to 83 destinations, via 17 commercial airlines serving major cities in the Americas and Europe.

81% of passengers who used the air terminal during the month of March were connecting passengers.

Meanwhile, the markets that contributed the most transit passengers were South America with 44%, followed by North America with 28%, of Caribbean 11%, while Central America contributed 11% and European markets contributed 6% share.

For their part, regional terminals Panama Pacifico, Enrique Malek, Scarlett Martínez and Enrique A. Jiménez, managed by Tocumen, SA recorded a traffic of 203,282 passengers during the first quarter of this year.

During the month of March, 64,893 passengers and 2,231 aircraft operations were mobilized.

Between regional terminals Panama Pacific recorded the largest movement with 30,565 passengers processed. While the domestic terminal operating at Terminal 2 handled 16,370 passengers.

Likewise, 11,923 aircraft movements were managed, according to data from Tocumen International Airport Statistics Department.

On the other hand, the cargo terminal mobilized 48,610 metric tons of goods during the first quarter of 2023, and 18,720 metric tons during the month of March.

He Tocumen International Airport shows strong competitiveness compared to other airports in the region, said the manager of the air terminal Raffoul Arab.

“If economic, health and social conditions hold, we can project operating results higher than those of 2019,” Arab said.
