China orders 160 model aircraft from Airbus with the largest participation of Galicia

Author: air bus

The order consists of 150 A320 units and a further 10 A350s, whose suppliers include Delta Vigo, Coasa or Utingal

The Chinese authorities gave the green light to formalize an order with the European aeronautical manufacturer Airbus for 160 aircraftOf these, 150 are from the single-aisle A320 family, and the remaining 10 are from the long-range A350 model with two aisles.

The approval by the China Aviation Supplies Company (CASC), announced this Thursday in Beijing during the visit of French President Emmanuel Macron, refers to the aircraft whose sale was already announced last year and has since been added to the Airbus order book. .

The Élysée reported this confirmation, which in the case of China is necessary for a company in that country to tell a manufacturer like Airbus that it can start producing aircraft, in a document listing the agreements and contracts signed as part of that visit by Macron, and the meeting with his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping.

The European Aeronautical Consortium is the lungs of the sector in Galicia. Its order book has a direct impact on the Galician airlines which, at various levels of subcontracting, supply components for the four main Airbus commercial models: the A-320 Neo, the A-330 (a version of which Neo is preparing) the A-350 XWB and the ill-fated giant A-380 , whose commercial life ended in 2021, due to lack of demand.

The most powerful engine in the sector in Galicia is located in Ourense. It is about the Thing. The Galician subsidiary of the Aernova Group produces important packages of parts for the entire family of Airbus civil aircraft. Delta Vigo also works closely with the manufacturer, from its subsidiary located in Illescas (Toledo), where Airbus has a component factory for the A-350 model. And Utingal, based in Tui and connected to the group of companies of Celta president Carlos Mourinho, works for Airbus, among others.
