Panama is going for a positive result against Costa Rica

The players called up by coach Thomas Christiansen are preparing for the second leg against Costa Rica on March 28 at the National Stadium in Las Sabanas, San José.

In the first match, Panama beat Costa Rica 2:0 at the Rommel Fernández stadium, and now, as a guest, a draw is enough to qualify for the Final Four of the League of Nations.

The Panamanian team trained on the field of the Luis Eernesto “Cascarita” Tapia Stadium, and from this Tuesday they will focus on training at the Virgilio Tejeira Andrión Stadium in Penonomé.

Panama arrives at the match against Costa Rica with the hope of achieving a result that will help them qualify for the Final Four.

“A very important game for us and we have to focus on a positive result there and if God wants a win,” added Pamep midfielder Adalberto “Coco” Carrasquilla.

The Houston Dynamo, in Major League Soccer (MLS), which is the final match of the Concacaf Nations League group stage, is crucial to Panama’s aspirations in the regional soccer tournament.

The midfielder recognized how important it will be for Panama to be able to face Argentina on March 23 in Buenos Aires, however, making it clear that the biggest prize in the last-date clash is away against Costa Rica for a ticket to the Final Four.

The important match for us is the one against Costa Rica, he said.

Carrasquilla welcomed coach Thomas Christiansen’s decision, pointing to the issue of travel and rest days between each game.
“The decision the teacher just made was very good because there are very few days to recover,” he explained. “It was a very wise decision he made,” added “Coco” Carrasquilla.
