Panama Hotel Association (Apatel) He asked that funds be allocated to complete the construction and equipping of Amador Cruise Port.
The union also called on the management company and representatives of the Panama Maritime Authority (AMP), through a press release, to agree with the cruisers on the fuel supply policy.
Hoteliers have expressed concern over comments about the use of the Amador cruise port as a “Home Port” by prestigious international cruise lines.
They state that the operation of “Home Port” in Amador meant “a very important and necessary flow of tourists to our country, which continues to have a favorable effect on hotel occupancy, job creation and the economic recovery of the country”.
They emphasize that “the growth, promotion and consolidation of this project represents a key element of differentiation in the future of Panamanian tourism.”
Apatelo’s concern is related to their recent visit to the Amador port facilities, in which it became clear that their construction and equipment are far from complete, “which affects the image of Panama and the level of service and attention to those who honor this country with their visit”.
“In addition, we repeat Apatel’s call to secure the Panamanian Fund for the Promotion of International Tourism with the means that correspond to it by law, for a continuous and uninterrupted campaign in favor of Panama in the international community, including its unique offer of cruises from Amador and Colon”, the press release points out.
On the other hand, Apatel evaluated the decision of the National Government to extend the incentives for cruisers to operate from Panama as a “Home Port”, considering the unproductive years of the pandemic, as positive.
This decision will result in new cruise lines choosing Panama as an origin, more tourists visit the country and greater benefits for Panamanians, assures the union.
The business union also reiterates its call for the Fund for the Promotion of International Tourism of Panama to be allocated appropriate funds for a continuous and uninterrupted campaign in favor of Panama in the international community, including its unique cruise offer from Amador. and Columbus.
