The reform improves the pensions of mothers who leave work
The mothers whose careers are affected after the birth of their children Are they big users for the second phase of the pension reform which the Government is bringing to an end and which foresees a number of measures aimed at reduce the large gender gap which today exists in advantages: more than 500 euros separate the pensions received by men (1,573 euros per month) from those received by women (1,071 euros).
for them improves compensation for the gaps they have during their working life (periods in which contributions have not been paid, often for the care of children or the elderly); the gender difference allowance is increased by 10% (old maternity allowance), which increases pensions for more than 430,000 people (93% women) by an average of 66 euros per month, andminimum and non-contributory pensionswhich are mainly concentrated in the female group, will increase much more than the revaluation experienced by ordinary people.
But there is another initiative that was not previously known to be launched by the executive branch to improve the pensions of women who have had to leave work to care for their children, the elderly or sick or disabled relatives. The the first three years of leave or reduced working hours will be considered 100% contributory once the new law is approved, as set out in a draft royal decree accessed by this newspaper.
“For the purposes of social insurance for retirement, permanent disability, death and survivorship, maternity and paternity, the first three years of the leave period enjoyed by workers shall be considered as effectively paid contributions (…) due to the care of other relatives up to the second degree of consanguinity or consanguinity, who cannot take care of themselves due to old age, accident, illness or disability, and they do not perform a paid activity”, the document summarizes. Until now, social security only filled the gap of the first year of leave.

And the same thing happens to those women (feminine because they are the majority) who shorten their working hours so that they can come to terms with family life.
Contributions paid during the first three years of the reduced working time period for child care will be calculated increased up to 100% of the amount that would have corresponded if the working day had been kept without the specified reduction, explains the Draft new standard, which also states that The increase will also apply to the first three years in cases of reduced working hours to care for spouses, parents, grandparents, grandchildren or siblings. The current law specifies the first two years in the case of caring for a child and only the first year in the case of caring for other relatives.
Of course, the Government will abolish these measures that favor women “when the gender difference in pension during one year is equal to or less than 5%” (currently exceeds 28%), as established in the Draft.
