“I’m excited to spend a great day with my family here at Disneyland,” the quarterback told dozens of fans who applauded as he walked past wearing Mahomes’ No. 15 Chiefs jersey. Last Sunday, Patrick Mahomes led the Kansas City Chiefs to a 25-22 victory over the San Francisco 49ers in the NFL Championship Game. It was the third Vince Lombardi trophy and MVP number three of the 28-year-old guard’s career.
The one from Tyler, Texas, toured the main streets of the amusement park this Monday in a car decorated on the sides with red and yellow balloons, the colors of the Chiefs, and his team’s shield on the front and back. Dressed in a black pullover with Super Bowl LVIII branding on the front, the pin traveled accompanied by major Disney characters; Mickey and Minnie. A procession led by a dozen young people wearing colorful t-shirts and other characters like Donald, Goofy and Pluto led towards the car, chanting “MVP, MVP, MVP”.
This is the third time Mahomes has made this trip since arriving in the NFL. The first was on February 3, 2020, following a 31-20 win over the 49ers in Super Bowl LIV, a game in which he earned his first MVP nod.
His second appearance came last year, after leading Kansas City to a 38-35 victory over the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl LVII, a game in which he earned his second MVP.
The traditional victory parade in Disneyland has been held since 1987. The first guest was New York Giants quarterback Phil Simms, who was named MVP of Super Bowl XXI, held on January 25 of that year.
