The first job through PPP is awarded by MOP

After two reports and two appeals, yesterday is Wednesday Ministry of Public Works (MOP) awarded the renovation and maintenance of the Panamericana Este highway to Intervial Chile, SA for $262 million.

This is the first paper awarded under Law 93 Public Private Partnership (PPP), sanctioned in 2020.

The Chilean company’s proposal was the lowest of the four presented on July 20 last year, when the envelopes were opened.

However, on the 6 September, MOP partially annulled the first report of the evaluation committee of the public event, after several objections were raised.

A new report was published on September 25, receiving two formal complaints Strabag, SA and Consorcio Corredor del Istmo.

Strabag’s lawsuit was ruled in favor of MOP on October 26, while Isthmus Corridor November 14.

The award, contained in Decision no. APP-001-2024, dated January 10, 2024 and may be challenged before Administrative Court for Public Procurement within five working days of notification.’
