He Ministry of Labor and Labor Development (Mitradel) defends the need to measure the effects that more than 30 days of road closures have had on various economic sectors in the country.
The new proposal would postpone the decision on the minimum wage, which was supposed to come into force in January 2024, and everything will depend on how well the economic study will be put on the table.
The head of work, Doris Zapata, He reminded that the table of minimum wages is of a permanent nature that can be requested and convened as soon as each of the participants requests it.
Eduardo Gil of Convergencia Sindical and representative of workers at the minimum wage table confirmed that the proposal has been received and forwarded to the National Council of Organized Workers (Conato) and the National Confederation of Independent Trade Union Units (Conusi), which will analyze its viability.
However, for Gil, it is necessary to understand that the phenomenon of the crisis surrounding the mining project also has a large component of the accumulated social unrest of the conflict in 2022, because the agreements established to reduce the cost of living have not been fulfilled.
Gil supports his position on economic indicators that represent a basic basket larger than that of June 2022 with the rise in the prices of basic products.
Faced with this reality, the leader insisted on the urgency of defining the wage policy in accordance with the needs of workers, a responsibility that falls to the National Commission for Minimum Wages.
On November 29, discussions on the minimum wage continued, and this Wednesday the viability of the proposals of the employer sector and Mitradel will be assessed.
However, it will be up to the worker and employer sectors to analyze each of the socioeconomic aspects or indicators to make decisions regarding the new minimum wage rates.
The executive decree on the minimum wage foresees 53 minimum wage rates, 73 economic activities; (36 with national salary); 20 occupations (19 with national salary). The country has 81 districts and they are considered 2 regions: Region 1 consists of 40 districts and in Region 2 the rest of the districts, Mitradel details.
