Lower offer than producers and mobilization difficulties for product distribution have led the national government to decide to suspend Christmas Solidarity for this year.
Carlo Rognoni, director of the Agricultural Marketing Institute, said that traffic restrictions prevent access to raw materials for the production of meat products and their distribution throughout the country.
As for the low supply, the official said that this year they got just over 600,000 units overall, both chicken and pork.
“Last year, we managed to realize the Christmas solidarity program with one million and 400 thousand units. There was also a reduction, which is related to the pre-election situation,” said Rognoni.
In this sense, the director of HAVE He emphasizes that the decrease is also related to the fact that the industry managed to place its products on private markets, which is more attractive for manufacturers.

The purpose of the program was to ensure a surplus of domestic production of pork and chicken meat, but the Ministry of Agriculture assures that a balance has been achieved in production and marketing.
Rognoni commented that he does not know what these funds will be used for now that the executive branch has announced the suspension of the program.
“We at IMA do not manage the allocation of funds. We are sure that the Government Council will use them appropriately. We know that there are justified requests,” he explained.
According to the civil servant, IMA will continue to strengthen the sale of food products basic basket at subsidized prices.
