ETESA is updating its telecommunications system

The Electrical Transmission Company, SA (ETESA) acquired a new trunk-digital radio communication system, becoming a pioneering company in Latin America in the use of this innovative communication technology, thus achieving safe and reliable operation of the National Interconnection System (SIN).

According to ETESA, This technological advancement consists of a system consisting of a main site and eleven other distribution sites across the country, achieving the implementation and commissioning of a robust, secure and reliable trunk radio system for the communication of all SIN agents.

The innovation towards the trunk radio system was achieved by updating the ETESA Master Site to the latest ASTRO 25 2022.1 version, making it one of the companies with a platform with a high degree of update and utilization to optimize its communication using broadband trunk radio. and with full availability 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

ETESA explains that for the installation of this system, a series of work phases were established in which factory tests were carried out in Motorola Experience Center in Elgin, Illinois, United States of America, in order to check the correct operation of the purchased equipment, as well as the purchase and configuration of the Master Site ASTRO 25 2022.1.

In addition, training was conducted for ETESA Communications Coordination engineers and technicians, at the Motorola Training Center, in Fort Lauderdale, USA, in the management and operation of the ASTRO 25 system.

The new radio communication equipment, which was put into operation on October 4, 2023, is distributed as follows: Zone 1: Cerro Jefe, Cerro Peñón, Santa Rita, Buenos Aires and Cerro Mena; Zone 2: Cerro Taboga, Cerro Canajagua and Alto Ibalá and Zone 3: Volcán Barú, Palo Seco and Tolé.

With this important investment, ETESA reiterates its commitment to market entities to ensure a safe, reliable and timely electricity transmission service.
