Woodruff and Edward to the Pan American Final

Panamanian athletics had a good afternoon as Gianna Woodruff and Alonso Edward qualified for the finals of their respective events at the Santiago 2023 Pan American Games yesterday.

Edward, competing in his specialty, the 200m, finished second in his heat with a time of 21.04 seconds, which was enough to qualify for the final and claim a medal.

Three semi-final heats were held in the 200 meter event, and the first two in each event and the two best additional times qualified for the final.

The final of the 200 meter race will be held today at (6:10 p.m.).

Cristal Cuervo also competed in the women’s 200m but did not qualify.

For her part, Gianna Woodruff in the 400-meter hurdles was third in her race with a time of 58.68 seconds, enough to qualify for the finals.

In this test there were two races, the first three places went to the final. Added to this are the two best additional times.

The final of the 400m hurdles will be held this Friday (tomorrow at 15:35 Panama time).

The other sport that saw action at the Pan American Games was men’s basketball, where Panama lost to Argentina 85-77.
