Panama’s main goal at the 2023 Pan American Games in Santiago is to improve on its performance at the last Games in 2019 in Lima.
“The task in Santiago is to surpass what we have already done at the Lima 2019 Games. It is not an easy task,” explained Panama Olympic Committee President Damaris Young.
In Lima, the Panamanian team took four bronze medals in Greco-Roman wrestling, judo and karate.
For Young, the performance in Peru was the best for the Central American country since the 1987 Games in Indianapolis.
Panama has a delegation of 90 athletes who will compete in 20 disciplines at the 2023 Pan American Games in Santiago, including basketball and baseball teams.
