Ricardo Martinelli, for his part, proposed various alternatives and projects to attract foreign investment and promote Panama as a tourist destination as one of the pillars of the Panamanian economy.
During his government (2009-2014), Panama exceeded 2 million 250 visitorswith a contribution to the gross domestic product (GDP) of almost 3.5 billion dollars.
