Messi’s Inter against ‘Coco’s’ Dynano in the US Open final

Argentina’s Lionel Messi-led Inter Miami faces Panama’s Adalberto “Coco” Carrasquillo’s Houston Dynamo in the US Open Cup final today (7:30 p.m. Isthmian time) at the DRV PNK Stadium in Florida, United States.

The big doubt for the team led by Argentine Gerardo “Tata” Martino is whether world champion and Inter Miami captain Lionel Messi will play.

Messi, who did not play in the 2026 World Cup South American qualifier against Bolivia and a few days ago in the match between Inter Miami and Toronto FC, left the game after 36 minutes due to discomfort, remains a big question.

The Argentinian star has had little playing time in the last two weeks and is a big doubt for the match against Houston Dynamo in the final of the US Open Cup.

Messi has scored 11 goals in 13 games since joining Inter Miami, but his body has taken a toll on his body over the past month and a half, forcing him to sit out last week’s MLS clash against Toronto. Argentine coach Gerardo ‘Tata’ Martino will wait for him until the end, aware that no one like ‘La Pulga’ can tip the scales in favor of his team.

For their part, the Houston Dynamo led by Panama “Coco” Carrasquilla and Mexico’s Héctor Herrera will try to lift the trophy on the field, away from home in Florida, United States.

Houston Dynamo coach Ben Olsen thinks Inter Miami is a big favorite playing at home, they are at home.

Olsen added that he will try to take advantage of Inter Miami’s weaknesses in the final, and seek victory.

Inter Miami is going for the second title in its history, the first one was won by winning the League Cup, defeating the team Nashville SC, for which the Panamanian Aníbal Godoy plays, on penalties.
