American Airlines earned $1,348 million in the first half of the year

America’s largest airline, American Airlines, reported on Thursday earnings of $1,348 million in the first half, reversing losses of $1,159 million it recorded in the same period in 2022.

Operating revenue between January and June rose to $26,244 million, up 17.6% from the same period in 2022.

As for the second quarter of the year, the most followed by operators Wall Streetthe airline made a profit of 1,338 million dollars, almost three times more than the 466 million dollars realized between April and June last year.

Billings for the second quarter of 2023 were $14,055 million, up 4.7% from the second quarter of 2022.

In a statement, the airline based in Forth Worth (Texas)claims to have posted record profits in the second quarter, thanks primarily to “continued strength in demand”.

Demand was particularly strong in June, driven by an increase in flight bookings.

Revenues from domestic and international short-haul flights continue to be strong, and the airline has seen significant growth in international long-haul demand.”

In light of the results, the company revised its full-year 2023 earnings per share expectations upward to a range between $3 and $3.75 per share. Previously, I put the profit in the range between 2.5 and 3.5 dollars.

On July 13, the second big oneAmerican airline Delta Air Linereported earnings of $1,464 million in the first half of the year, also reversing the result achieved in 2022, when it lost $205 million in the same six months.

In the first six months of 2023, Delta collected $28,337 million, 22% more than $23,173 in the same period last year.

After the results were released, its shares lost 1.4% in electronic trading before the Wall Street open.

So far this year, US stocks are up 46%.
