Panama will chair the WIPO General Assemblies

Panama was elected to preside General Assemblies of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) for the period 2024-2025published the Ministry of Trade and Industry (MICI).

According to the entity, the difference fell to Ambassador Alfredo Suescumpermanent representative before World Trade Organization (WTO) and other international organizations.

He MY CI details that the election of Ambassador Suescum as President of the Assemblies promotes the country’s strategy aimed at strengthen Panama’s leadership in important international forums.

In addition, it positions Panama as a country that promotes multilateral consensus and encourages the participation of more Panamanians in international organizations for the benefit of Panama and the Latin American region.

During this presidency, the aim will be to promote a constructive and conciliatory approach in discussions and negotiations leading to the extension of the benefits of intellectual property for all members, its creators and peoples.

Assembly in WIPO and the WIPO Coordination Committee are WIPO’s main policy-making and decision-making bodies.

The 22 Assembly and other bodies of WIPO Member States and the Union governed by WIPO meet once a year.

It should be noted that WIPO is the specialized agency that belongs to it United Nations.

Its mission is to lead the development of the international system Intellectual property balanced and efficient, enabling innovation and creativity for the benefit of all.
