Britain’s Adam Yates (UAE Emirates) admitted it will be difficult to keep the yellow jersey in Wednesday’s Pyrenees stage, but he was not overly concerned as the team is banking on Slovenian Tadej Pogačar to take the overall lead.
“Tomorrow (today) will depend on the situation. I think it’s the first opportunity to break, it will be a big fight, but then there will be bonuses on the last climb, so it will be a little difficult for me to keep the yellow shirt. However, we have Tadej in the team, we have this chance! We’ll see tomorrow,” commented the leader at the finish line.
Adam Yates described yesterday’s fourth stage ride as “a quiet day with complications at the end”.
“It was pretty straight forward until the end. Nobody wanted to go into the break,” he said.
The Belgian Jasper Philipsen yesterday showed his supreme victory with a second consecutive sprint victory, this time in the fourth stage of the Tour, which Dax and Nogaro led on the 181.9 kilometer long route.
