There are 256 taxpayers in the community who owe more than 600,000 euros

According to tradition, this Friday the Tax Administration published a list of large debtors, a document with names on it all taxpayers who owed more than 600,000 euros to the treasury at the end of 2022. And there are ten of them. Since this list is already in its tenth edition, since in 2015 the Ministry of Finance — then led by Cristóbal Montoro — decided to launch this document.

IN Galicia, more than 256 companies and individuals had a debt with the Tax Administration at the end of last year which exceeded 451.9 million euros. But the figures show a slight improvement compared to the previous year. Thus, in the last list, there are 32 less debtors, representing a decrease of 11%. Not only the number of taxpayers who do not pay their tax obligations is reduced, but also the debt.

This is how Galicians, referred to by the state treasury, managed to reduce their debt to the state treasury by 101 million. Or what is the same: liabilities to the state treasury are now 18% lower than in 2021. For another year, the protagonist of the ranking in Galicia is Maviera, a company that was founded on the ashes of the Mahía group and which, after entering bankruptcy in 2019, maintains a debt of almost 35 million euros. Of course, it managed to reduce the liabilities a little, since last year this figure was 38 million. Another regular on the list is Biocarburantes de Galicia, a biodiesel plant in the municipality of Guitiriz that, unlike the previous one, has not been able to reduce its pending payments by an iota.
