Benefit from privileged interests pHousing will be extended, the Minister of Housing and Spatial Planning Rogelio Paredes reported this Thursday.
According to a senior official, they already have a new project that will enable it extension of preferential interest and will add changes regarding timing.
Paredes added that President Laurentino Cortizo already has this document in his hands and is expected to announce it soon.
“The project will expand the model of housing growth, design and construction to the entire state area, as it is currently only aimed at Panama City and apartments“, he told TVN News.
This week, Cortizo met with members of the Panama Chamber of Construction (Capac) to discuss preferential interests.
The amount of the subsidy and the validity of the law are the most important points that must be discussed before the official extension.
A few weeks ago, Cortizo vetoed a bill extending the period of preferential interest on mortgage loans.
Cortizo justified the Assembly’s encroachment on his territory by passing the governing law public financesomething that does not suit her even more when budgets are committed for future years such as 2028, the period until which the scope of interest has been extended, through the 1009 project.
According to the projections of the National Council of Promoters of Housing (Convivienda), a growth of more than 20% in the construction of residential units is estimated for this year.
