The athletes of the Special Olympics of Panama receive the flag

The athletes who will represent Panama at the Special Olympics in Germany received the National Pavilion.

The First Lady, Yazmín Colón de Cortizo, in the company of the Director General of the Panama Sports Institute (Pandeportes), Luis Denis Arce, handed over the national flag to the delegation of the Special Olympics that will participate in this World Summer Games in Berlin, Germany..

The event took place in the Yellow Room of the presidential palace, and 18 athletes participated in it, who will defend the colors of Panama from June 17 to 25, 2023.

The Isthmian delegation will participate in athletics, bowling, bocce, rhythmic gymnastics and swimming, for which they have been preparing for several months before leaving the country.

Colón de Cortizo shared with the athletes and expressed: “Today, in this farewell act, we have the honor of presenting the national pavilion to these 18 athletes, as a sign of our unconditional support and recognition of their talent and dedication.” We entrust you with this flag with the certainty that you will wear it with honor and dignity, representing the values ​​of Panama in every competition.”

During the Special Olympics World Games, the whole world witnesses the true meaning of courage, inspiration, determination and camaraderie in every athlete with intellectual disabilities of all ages, genders and nationalities, who compete, coexist and share the joy of sports, breaking stereotypes and society’s expectations, thus becoming the greatest sports celebration of inclusion on the planet.

In Berlin 2023, 7 thousand athletes in 26 sports, 190 delegations and 20 thousand volunteers will participate.
