Alcohol, betrayal, dreams and reality: forgotten actresses with a tragic fate

Alexandra Zavjalová

The honored artist of Russia died in 2016 at the hands of her own son. Petr could not stay long at any workplace – the desire for alcohol turned out to be stronger. The man lived with his mother, often content only with her modest pension.

In the last years of her life, Alexandra refused to communicate with the press and did not want to be recognized in public places. After all, it was popularity that played an ominous role in her acting fate: she became the main Soviet heroine in the TV series “Shadows Disappear at Noon”, woke up famous and … fell into oblivion. After such a global success, Zavyalova counted on no less prominent roles, without considering it possible to spend money on trifles.

Complete oblivion brought Alexandra to a psychiatric clinic, and death at the age of 79 at the hands of her own son was the tragic end of her no less tragic fate.

Irina Leonova

On the rise of her career, Irina Leonova made a decision in favor of her family. After meeting her future husband Yevgeny Tsyganov, she did not hesitate to leave her first husband Igor Petrenko and completely dissolved in her new love. Irina stopped acting and acting in the theater after she went on maternity leave, which lasted 14 years.

When the actress was pregnant with the seventh child, the father of a large family left for another. She became actress Yulia Snigir, who also managed to give Eugene a son.

Directors still remember the name of Irina Leonova, because this beauty with an incredibly charming intelligent appearance is not easily forgotten. But she had to return to work not for her career, but to earn a living for her children…

Heather Dean Locklear

Heather Locklear’s finest hour was her performance in the cult youth drama Melrose Place. Glory played a cruel joke with the actress: when it became clear that the previous success could not be repeated, Heather fell into a colossal depression. She tried to recover for a long time, but with varying success. Heather attempted suicide twice, and after her fiance left for a close friend, Heather fell into drugs. However, she managed to get out. Now fifty-nine, Heather has found peace with herself again.

Amanda Bynes

The 21st century teen comedy star looked set to stay on top for years to come. But early fame and dizzying success literally drove Amanda crazy.

Amanda was repeatedly sent for compulsory treatment to psychiatric clinics, because Amanda’s behavior managed to shock even the most demanding public. The girl accused her own father of sexual harassment, and then took back her words, but with a small correction: she claimed that her father had implanted a special chip in her head, because of which she sometimes spoke complete nonsense to journalists.

Now the name of the actress is mentioned only if you want to reminisce about your youth and laugh a lot at the long-forgotten films “She’s a Man”, “What a Girl Wants” and “Love on an Island”. But once Amanda won several Kids Choice Awards at once…

Valentina Šerová

An athlete, a member of the Komsomol, the same age as the revolution, the darling of Konstantin Simonov, the one to whom he dedicated the lines “Wait for me” that moved to tears, and the simply beautiful Valentina Serova could not overcome the desire for alcohol. The star of the cult films “Hearts of Four”, “The Immortal Garrison”, “A Girl with Character” and of course “Wait for Me” became addicted to drink, which disrupted filming and performances. Of course, even such a talented actress could not forgive her “small weaknesses”. The actress died in her apartment in 1975.

Elena Dobronravová

An actress who never played the role of her dreams and did not find herself in everyday life – that’s how Elena Dobronravová’s fate can be described. A bright debut in Joseph Kheifits’s film “The Big Family” did not become a guarantee of further success.

Elena dreamed of becoming Veronica in the film Cranes Fly, but Tatyana Samoilova was chosen for this role. The actress dreamed of a great and pure love, she did not want to waste time on short-term and non-committal novels, but she remained single and never became a mother or a wife.

In the last years of her life, Elena did not communicate with anyone at all, preferring solitude or rather forced seclusion.

Natalya Kustinskaya

The dream of all Soviet men, Natalya Kustinskaya remained off the screen with the same cheerful beauty, whose personal life, unfortunately, did not develop in the best way. Behind the actress 6 marriages, many betrayals and tragic accidents.

The couple cheated the first beauty of the USSR! However, she did not remain in debt either: it often turned out that the new love was stronger, and Kustinskaya left. Natalia’s husbands died in tragic accidents and she was left alone again.

Under unclear circumstances, her only son also died, and six months before, the only grandson of the actress “burned out” from cancer… The last two years of her life, Natalya was seriously ill. The actress died without coming out of the coma.

Taťána Samojlova

The role of Veronika in the film “Cranes fly” brought Taťana worldwide fame, but unfortunately she was also unable to repeat her success. In Soviet times, the beauty was not allowed to work in Hollywood, and domestic directors could not find suitable roles for a talented actress with a languid appearance.

Tatiana’s only son left for the USA, they saw their own granddaughter only once in 9 years. They say her life wasn’t so bad on the outside: a furnished apartment, a presidential guesthouse. She lived alone and could sit for hours in a once-legendary restaurant and forget to order. Tatyana Samoilova died on her birthday – she would have been 80 years old.

Isolde Izvitská

The very name Isolde carries the imprint of tragedy, only in real life the story of the great love between the knight Tristan and his Isolde turned out a little differently. After the actress starred in Grigory Chukhrai’s film “The Forty-First” in the 1950s, she gained fame throughout the Union. Then, for decades, Isolde was filmed literally without a break, but she no longer had the iconic roles and her former popularity. It was then that she fell into alcoholism, which her husband did not ignore.

But after a while her husband left Izvitskaya: his departure broke the already broken desire for life of the actress. Now she existed only because of alcohol, sometimes she forgot to eat and sometimes she couldn’t even find money for fresh bread. Isolde died at the age of 38, she died after a long period of starvation. The actress’ body was found a few weeks later in an empty apartment.
