First, a little background. The Russian music channel RU.TV has become a unique phenomenon of Russian television. Since its establishment in 2006, the channel has exclusively broadcast clips in the Russian language. This did not prevent him from competing with other music channels, which, in addition to Russian videos, could fill the airtime with all the rich heritage of the world scene.

The RU.TV channel remained faithful to its concept even in the past years, which allowed it to become the first among off-air music projects. The logical continuation of the development of the channel was the establishment of its own price.

The first Russian music award of the RU.TV channel was held on a rainy autumn day – October 1, 2011 at the Oktyabr cinema. The creators of the award immediately set the tone and atmosphere of the event: the ceremony became a place for creative self-expression of stars, freed from frames and stereotypes, a little outrageous, but most importantly very honest and sincere.

One of the most important highlights of the award was the stellar composition of the channel’s corporate color – magenta. Before the start of the concert, the brightest representatives of show business pass through it every year: musicians, theater and film artists, TV presenters, athletes, designers, but also representatives of the business world and politicians.

What kind of costumes have they not seen star track! And every year they are brighter and more interesting. Anna Pletneva’s teddy bear dress, Slava Eva’s costume (thin mesh embroidered with satin roses), Olga Buzova’s metal armor, Valeria’s cosmic diadem, countless kokoshniks and other stylized Russian national jewelry, exquisite haute couture evening dresses and stylish costumes from representatives of the strong Rod.

In 2012, the ceremony moved to Crocus City Hall, and from 2013 it “moved” to spring, becoming the main event summing up the musical season on the eve of the long summer holidays.

The creators of the Russian Music Prize of the RU.TV channel have always tried to be fashionable: in the script, in the selection of musical material and even in the nominations, they reflect what is happening not only in show business, but also in the world. Thanks to this, the most unusual nominations were born at the RU.TV Channel Awards. For example, “By myself”, which suddenly went to Arthur Pirozhkov for a split personality with Alexander Revva. Or “Sometimes they come back”, which was won by Natalie, who broke into the charts again with “Oh my God, what a person”!

The figure of the ceremony also deserves special mention. The creators of the Prize thought for a long time which symbol would look good in the hands of the winners and at the same time reflect the breadth of the Russian soul. They fantasized about both the balalaika and the bear, but the samovar won the art board by a huge margin. Yes, not a simple samovar – but an exact scale copy of a real Tula samovar. And they cast commemorative figurines for the stars in accordance with all the rules – at the same Tula plant, where, as they say, he does not go with his samovar.

And what happened on stage all those years?

The Russian Music Award of the RU.TV channel has always amazed the audience with its magnificence and scale. Real motorbikes and cars, special lighting effects and fireworks, the most technologically advanced installations that allow performers and dancers to literally soar under the ceiling of the concert hall – all this was possible at the ceremony.

The brightest artists and showmen have become guides to the music world: over the years, Nikolai Baskov, Elena Sever, Gosha Kutsenko, Gluk’oZa, Andrey Malakhov, Regina Todorenko, Timur Rodriguez, star presenters of RU have been hosts of the award. TV channel and many more.

The slogan of the ceremony in 2023 was the phrase “All the stars are with us”, so we should expect a real star fireworks – there is no doubt that all the most popular and popular performers will appear on stage.

Music is a part of the DNA of a Russian person, a broad Russian soul – on May 23 at the Crocus City Hall, the Russian Music Award intends to confirm: it is music that unites people at all times, helps not only to live and build, but also to be truly happy.
