In an interview with The Telegraph in 2009, Strong said he first started losing his hair in his early twenties, a harrowing experience for any young man that left him depressed and self-conscious.
It is obvious that in the early years hair loss has not yet reached a serious scale. Indeed, at the age of 27, Strong played Constable Gibb in the BBC series The Bill (this was in 1990), here he still had quite an impressive head of hair.

Obviously, however, bald spots began to appear shortly after that. In 1991, Strong played a Nazi in Larry Elikann’s Against the Wind, but appeared on the screen only in a cap – of course the image demanded it, but it cannot be ruled out that it was also a successful disguise.

Finally, everything becomes clear when you look at the footage of Strong’s next film, which came out in 1994 – Trapped. By this time, Mark Strong had indeed become bald.

However, even after that, the actor was seen on the screen with hair – of course, wigs came to the rescue. So the role of the actor did not degenerate into the roles of clean-shaven and brutal men. For example, in 1996 he played Mr. Knightley in the TV adaptation of Jane Austen’s classic Emma.
