Stars New Cardi B: how a Russian artist became a Turkish rap star and Forbes heroine

Asya Alizade was born in Azerbaijan, but at the age of 11 she moved with her parents to Moscow, where she grew up. At school, her vocal abilities were noted, the girl began to study music. Asya began performing regularly at school concerts, which eventually helped her adapt and cope with the stiffness.

As a teenager, the girl became interested in rap and began to experiment with her own creativity – she recorded songs and published them on VKontakte. By her own admission, she liked hip-hop because there are no restrictions in this genre. At first, this hobby of Asya caused the rejection of her parents, but in the end all conflicts were settled when they realized that this is a serious hobby that can bring money. Meanwhile, Asya’s songs began to gain auditions, and as a result she was noticed by a record company.

After school, Asya entered Moscow State University, where she also actively participated in the creative life of the university and received many different certificates for her achievements.

A wide audience first heard about Alizade (Asya performs under this name) in 2018, thanks to her collaboration with rapper Big Baby Tape (real name is Yegor Rakitin). Asya was friends with the artist, and he invited her to record a joint song – Gucci’s composition quickly became popular on social networks. After that, Asya released her own solo singles August, Karma and Make UP.

In 2019, Asya briefly disappeared from the music world. The girl faced depression. The rap artist admitted that at first she didn’t even understand what was happening to her, because she was always quite cheerful. At first Alizade went to herself, but then she started looking for a way out of the situation.

“Then I just realized that the way out is self-development, doing what you love and interacting with the right people. In general, I think that communication is the best way of psychotherapy, “Asya said about that time.

In 2022, Alizade decided to move to Turkey and conquer the show business there. The artist thus broke into the genre of Turkish rap. According to Asya, the language was easy for her because Azerbaijani is similar to Turkish and besides, she watched a lot of Turkish TV shows as a child.

Another collaboration helped Asya establish herself in a new market – this time with the Turkish influencer and rapper Bege. Alizade’s style is characterized by a mixture of lyricism and audacity, oriental flavor and playful presentation. The girl has many fans, but also enough haters who accuse her of being too frivolous.

Today, Alizade calls herself the “Turkish Cardi B”. The comparison does not offend Asya – she herself listened to Cardi B with pleasure, but then Megan Thee Stallion became her favorite.

In Turkey, Asya really “shot”: the video for the song Abnormal collected millions of views, and on Spotify Alizade even surpassed Morgenstern *.

But if Asya’s career achievements are visible, then she does not talk too willingly about her personal life, only noting that she does not have a stamp in her passport yet.

Well, music remains the main thing in her life.

“Even if two people listen to me, I will sing to them,” says Alizade.
