In Denis Villeneuve’s new adaptation, Austin Butler, who is known for his role as Elvis Presley in the biopic of the same name, got the role. In the previous film adaptation of Frank Herbert’s 1984 fantasy novel, the character was portrayed by the singer Sting.
Judging by the first photos of Butler in the picture, they did not focus on the old film, and visually the characters are not at all similar. If Sting was fiery red in the film, then Austin had to settle for a more radical make-up – his character is completely bald, which gives the character an even scarier look (let’s not forget that the Harkonnens are still the villains).

However, few people know that there was another Fade Routa – in the not so famous mini-series from 2000. Matt Kislar played the hero there – and his image is also different from the others.
These are such different interpretations of the same character! But it’s better for us – it won’t be boring to watch all three movies.
