The star of the cult film “Curly Sue” married her childhood friend and professional dancer Justin De Vera. The 41-year-old actress got married at the Venus Garden Chapel at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas on Sunday. The lovers met when they were still young, but started dating six years ago and decided to announce their engagement at the end of July last year.

The actress and her 33-year-old partner exchanged handwritten vows during the intimate ceremony. “I think for me and Justin, we’ve been best friends for so long that it just feels like the next step. We have known each other for over 20 years. We had a wonderful six years together, raised wonderful children and had a child of our own. So this is what we’ve been waiting for,” Porter described her romance with the dancer.

Porter, who transitioned from acting to singing after winning NBC’s The Voice in 2016, wore a Sau Lee dress to the wedding. The star described it as classic and simple. A pair of Versace shoes was presented to her by singer Adam Lambert, who was one of the 75 guests present.

“Our wedding is very personal and very much ours. We didn’t do anything traditional – just what we felt was right,’ Alison admitted. She walked down the aisle to Justin Nozuki’s Warm Under the Light. The celebration was led by the couple’s close friend Guy, who is the godfather of their 17-month-old daughter Shiloh.

“Guy was my grandmother’s godson and grew up in her dance studio. He is like a cousin to me. I introduced him to Justin at a dance competition when they were 12 or 13 and they’ve been best friends ever since,” Porter said. She trusted her children from a previous marriage, Mason and Aria, to wear the rings to the ceremony.

De Vera proposed to Alison during a David Gray concert at the Greek Theater in Los Angeles. At that moment, the song This Year’s Love, which was played during their first dance together, played.

“We’ve been best friends ever since and we’ve always liked each other. I’m a little older than Jay, but we both lived amazing lives until the universe brought us together,” Porter said.
