Kabaeva achieved the highest achievements in sports. The gymnast is a two-time absolute world champion, she won the 2004 Olympics in the individual all-around. All this happened in large part thanks to the mentor. Irina Viner admitted that Alina is her favorite student. The native of Tashkent not only implicitly fulfilled all the coach’s requirements, but she herself offered many interesting elements for her programs.

The president of the All-Russian Rhythmic Gymnastics Federation said she met Kabaeva when she was 12 years old. The girl was brought to the mentor because the gymnast’s former coaches did not see potential in her.

“I looked at Alina when they sent me very bad things about her. “Hello”, – explained Irina Alexandrovna. – I saw her in the wrong shape, which should be “artist”. But when Alina started to move, I understood everything. And “Hello” were like: it just bends, bends – the similes were so vulgar. But you should never listen to anyone.”

Even Viner and her best student survived the heavy blow. In 2001, Kabaeva and Chashchina made a triumphant appearance at the World Championships: they won the team victory together with Laysan Utyashev, in addition, Alina won four individual gold and silver, and Irina won four silver and the only individual gold in her career. A few weeks later, however, the French press published a sensation: Kabaeva and Chashchina were caught doping. It was soon officially confirmed.

Doping tests of Russian women showed the presence of furosemide in the body, a diuretic that helps reduce weight. Officials said furosemide is often used by athletes to hide more serious banned substances and is therefore recognized as a doping agent. Viner assured that Alina has a very complex character, but thanks to him she achieved such incredible results.

“Especially when she was killed. She was terribly killed. With Chashchina, they were removed, a year later we got it again, she won, and then they were removed for another year. It was terrifying,” Viner recalled on Channel One’s It’s Time.

Kabaeva was very upset by the doping scandal. “It was terrible,” Alina admitted earlier. – When I remember, I’m already scared, I don’t want to go back there. I was shaking so much inside… I didn’t understand what was happening, why it was like this.

Recently, the 12th annual Alina Rhythmic Gymnastics Festival was held at the Academy of Heavenly Grace in Sochi. World-class athletes participated in the show. Kabaeva was the center of everyone’s attention. The Olympic champion came out in an elegant black dress. The 39-year-old star willingly communicated with young gymnasts and posed for selfies.
