On the night of April 2, People’s Artist of Ukraine Oleksandr Hetmansky died. The Kyiv National Academic Drama Theater reported on the tragedy. The cause of death was a prolonged illness. Because of her, the actor has not been on stage in recent years.

Alexander Nikolaevich will be buried in the village of Vysokoe, Kharkiv region. The funeral service will be held at St Elias Church in the village tomorrow, Monday from 12.00pm to 2.00pm.

Alexander Getmansky was born on January 22, 1960. In 1980, he graduated from the acting department of the Kharkiv Institute of Arts. He then began serving in the troupe of the Kyiv Youth Theater in Lipky. From 1995 to 2004, he worked at the Kyiv Academic Drama and Comedy Theater on the Left Bank of the Dnieper and then at the Kyiv National Academic Theater of Russian Drama named after Lesya Ukrainka.

Hetmansky made his screen debut in 1990, starring in the erotic comedy Couple of Love Stories. His partners were Russian actors Armen Dzhigarkhanyan, Georgy Vitsin, as well as Ukrainian TV stars Ruslana Pysanka, Olga Sumskaya and others.
