In recent years, the actor had trouble moving around in the house in the village of Trshinec in the Lublin Voivodeship. The tragedy occurred on Sunday, March 26. At this time, Vysotsky was home alone. When the fire broke out, no one could help him. The house was small, wooden, it immediately caught fire.

The artist’s neighbors called the fire department. However, by the time they arrived, practically nothing was left of the house. The elderly artist was burned alive, the Bram Grodzko theater reported.

“On Thursday, a DNA test will be conducted to confirm the identity of the victim. The public prosecutor and an expert from the field of fire fighting took part in the search of the scene of the incident. We are waiting for a statement on the cause of the fire,” said Agnieszka Kempka, secretary of the Lublin District Council today.

The film star’s son commented on the tragedy. “Pyotr Vysotsky died. Lublin theater and film actor, the soul of society. My dad,” Yang wrote on the social network.

Pyotr Vysockij was born on April 13, 1936 in Toruń, where he graduated from high school and a construction college. In film, he became famous mainly for the role of Lieutenant Kozub in Konrad Nałęcki’s TV series Four Tankers and a Dog (1966–1970) and also for the role of Prince Jan Gintult in Andrzej’s film Ashes (1965). The actor received the title “Honored Worker of Culture” and the silver medal “For services to culture Gloria Artis”.
