Marina Fedunkiv: “When it comes to eccentricities in the family, I am the main one” Star

Marina, on March 13, your new TV series Cafe Cuba started on TNT. Who are you playing there? What do you remember from the shoot?

My heroine, Tamara, is the owner of the roadside cafe Cuba since 2000. She also has a life like this roadside cafe: all open, but full of secrets. One day, Natalya, her ex-husband’s new wife, comes to her and declares that he has gone to another world and bequeathed half of the cafe to her. So you will need to do business under one roof and get along with two women who are not enthusiastic about each other.

Zhanna Kadnikova – director “Cafe “Cuba” – not only filmed 13 seasons “Real guys”but also all my video clips, including the famous ones “Love story”. Zhanna knows a lot about comedies. So we all – the whole team – got up, shooting the series.

Our film crew so accurately conveyed the spirit of that time that we really felt like we were in 2000, we remembered so many things, pleasant and not so much. For example, I had a period when there was a catastrophic lack of money and I bought processed cheese for myself to eat at least something for breakfast, lunch and dinner… I prayed at the cash register that there would be enough money. I remembered all my sleepless nights, when I worked day and night, when it was impossible to take sick leave, I did not want to disappoint people… But I remember what happened, with warmth, thanks to all the trials, I became who i am now If you remember those times with nostalgia, you will definitely like it.

Marino, why is the Cafe Cuba project interesting to you personally, an actress who has the opportunity to choose the best scenarios? How is it different from other entertainment series?

First of all, my Tamara is just a wonderful heroine. In the end, I played the role of a woman who is at the center of the cycle of events. A cool plot and a confrontation between two heroines is always interesting. In addition, the second main role was won by an incredibly talented actress – Masha Smolnikova. She was a revelation to me! And anyway, the whole big team that filmed the series is practically my family, because they also filmed The Real Boys. Therefore, a bad, uninteresting project cannot come out with such. In addition, the trick is that the action takes place in the early 2000s. That is, it happened quite recently, but so much has changed, such nostalgia requires …

Marina, in films you usually play strong women – the mother of Nikolai Naumov v “Real Boys”Tamaru v “Cafe” “Cuba”… But could you play the opposite role – a weak, vulnerable woman?

I think so, I could. If I had been asked this question five years ago, I would have answered categorically “no”. And now that I have found in myself that Marina who is able to be vulnerable, weak, who can rely on her man, I understand that I can play such a heroine.

How do you feel about new projects and shooting proposals – do you agree with passion or do you think twice before agreeing?

Two opposites are always fighting in me – gambling, agreeing with everything and reasonable. And I have a team to match these two personalities. I think it is very important when there is an outside view, the view of a person who is not guided by feelings, but by reason. Therefore, I will answer like this – I have a positive attitude towards new projects, but as far as my participation is concerned, we will first consider all the pros and cons together with the team.

What is your favorite Soviet film and why?

Lots of favorites! I like to watch with my husband, who shares his impressions with me and stimulates unexpected thoughts. From the last thing we watched together – “The most charming and attractive.” At first, Stefano was confused as to why so little attention was given to the main character, and after watching it, he was proud and said, “Justice has prevailed” (Laughter). She also tried turning on Intergirl for him. There, however, metaphors are more difficult for his perception – it is difficult to explain to him the perception of the reality of that time, with which the majority lived and from which the heroine of Elena Yakovleva so longed to escape.

I love “Diamond hand”, “Gentlemen of Fortune”, “Operation Y and Shurik’s Other Adventures”, “Love and pigeons”, I know almost all the movies by heart. It amazes me how much creativity this movie is made with, how much love it is made.

Do you believe in horoscopes? Did your predictions come true?

Trust yourself more (Laughter). I prefer the opposite horoscope – when what was predicted on Monday, for example, I read on Tuesday and see if it came true. I usually don’t get it. Even though I consider myself a fatalist. And the predictions for the year as a whole turn out to be true, I read them both at the beginning of the year and at the end for review.

Your book “Life Through Laughter” was a real revelation. Is there a desire to write a new book, perhaps in collaboration with her husband?

And you know, it’s an idea! But to be honest, Stefano doesn’t like publicity. He is ready to support me in some media or at events, but he has built a successful career in a completely different environment and that’s it. What is associated with show business is a bit burdensome for him. I am very grateful to him for agreeing to participate in various shoots for my sake, but now I try to bother him as little as possible with various public activities. As for the book, I’m not sure he’ll be excited.

Your marriage has greatly pleased all of us who have followed your destiny. Tell me about the happiest moments in your social unit.

I remember our wedding very fondly – we celebrated it on my 50th birthday. My husband and I try to travel together, wherever it is, including the Golden Ring – to get new impressions together. We cherish every evening we spend at home, taking care of the everyday and taking care of each other. We are happy to be together.

What funny situations, funny things happen in your family because of different “cultural codes” with your Italian husband?

My husband laughs that he is more Russian than me. Stefano has been living in Russia for a long time and he likes our country very much. And when it comes to eccentricities in our family, I’m more. Stefano likes to pretend he’s Russian and I’m a foreigner. Sometimes I think his jokes are more virtuosic than mine.

They say you want to release a music album in 2023. When can we expect a release? When will the new songs be released?

The music label that releases my songs told me that albums are not as popular as singles now. But in the spring I will release several songs at once. The first will be the premiere of a song for the series “Cafe “Cuba”which is called “roadside cafe”. The song came out in a 2000s style, very hit, I’ve been singing it in my head for 2 weeks, can’t wait for the release.
