“The Summer of the Year” is a story about discord and family reconciliation, about the search for a common language by people of different generations. The play was based on the American playwright Ernest Thompson’s play “On the Golden Lake” – in 1981, with the participation of Katharine Hepburn, Henry Fonda and Jane Fonda, it was made into a film of the same name, which received three Oscars. . The roles of the play’s main characters, the elderly couple Norman and Ethel Thayer, are played on the stage of the Bolshoi Theater by 88-year-old Oleg Basilashvili and Alisa Freindlikh.
