Expensive apartment and unemployment: is Friends close to real life? stars

The series Friends showed a romanticized version of life in Manhattan: they say that the rent was so low that a 20-year-old poor youth could rent a nice apartment! Unfortunately, this is not the case in real life: the average price of a similar apartment in this part of New York is $4,500 per month.

However, it is known that Monica (Courteney Cox) shared an apartment with Rachel (Jennifer Aniston), which was given to her grandmother and she paid for it. That’s why Monica barely took any money from Rachel when she wasn’t working anywhere. But how the other heroes of Friends paid for housing is still unknown.

Do you remember how many times you saw your favorite characters at work? Very little! For example, Phoebe once gave a massage to a client and Ross was meeting with his boss, but it’s clear that they mostly did nothing. Even Rachel, who worked as a waitress in a cafe, talked with her friends more often than she worked.

When you watch the show as fiction, things like that aren’t obvious. And if you look at it in a mature way, how often do you get to see five friends without infinite timing? Certainly not every day!

Matthew Perry’s hero constantly complains about his lack of communication skills, like Joey. At the same time, he is a manipulator and egoist who puts random partners above friendship. He seems trustworthy, but you shouldn’t be alone with him!

He once stole a girl from Joey and met a classmate in college who also liked Ross. And they agreed not to!

Additionally, Chandler is unhappy with his job and still suffering from his parents’ divorce. Over time, he becomes mentally more mature, but it is not easy for him.

At the beginning of the series, David Schwimmer’s character is coming to his senses after a divorce. He talks bad about the ex who came out as a lesbian. Ross, from an adult perspective, was not to attack his wife, but to support her in her awareness of her sexuality.

He also suffered a lot when it was revealed that Rachel, who he was dating, had a boyfriend at work. He had to send her flowers to show that the place was occupied. And his other girlfriend dared to shave her head, which also annoyed Ross.

Lisa Kudrow’s heroine doesn’t talk much about her childhood. But it is very noticeable that it had a strong effect on her. She writes songs about her mother’s suicide when she was 14 years old. She had to sleep on the streets and then enter into a relationship with an older man to get housing.

When she couldn’t live with Monika due to total control, she quietly moved things out of the apartment so as not to fight. Apparently some moments in the past prevented her from enjoying the present.

You must have caught yourself thinking that dating Matt LeBlanc’s hero is quite possible! He is a dreamer and even almost a real actor – the most interesting work in the series. But in the end it was he who was unhappy.

He had a kind heart and even proposed marriage to Rachel so that they could raise his child together. He went on dates all the time… and friends had long relationships and started families. A sad lonely future lay before him.

Perfectionist Monica was overweight at school and the fear of getting fatter prevented her from living. She liked to cook, but always tried to eat properly and less. It partly influenced her character.

At the end of the series, she was involved in a great plot twist – promoting adoption. And while it’s not really a quick process at all, Monica has shown that it is possible and will bring joy to all involved. Events for adults!
