Tell us how your trio came together? How long did it take you to get used to each other?
Pauline: Our amazing trio was originally created in the head of our program director – Vladimír Borisov. He knew each of us individually and intuitively felt that we could put on a great show! To be honest, there was no lapping. We immediately felt at work and it’s cool, we worked together really quickly.
Dima: Our great luck is that we didn’t have to get used to each other. I worked at Russian Radio as a live DJ and Anton and I saw each other quite often when changing shifts. I immediately appreciated his sparkling humor, virtuoso improvisation and ability to always turn a shoulder.
We know Polina even more, before that we worked on various projects, we took our first steps in the legendary Yunost Radio, like many well-known TV and radio presenters now.

Did you immediately agree to be the new host of the show?
Dima: When Vladimir Borisov called me and offered me to become a “Russian pepper”, it took me about five seconds to think. Of course I agreed!
Pauline: I remember that fateful call. It happened one winter morning when I was taking my daughter to school. I’m on the street, there are people around… But that didn’t stop me from shouting to the whole street: “Yes! I agree!”. I don’t know what the passers-by were thinking at that moment… (Smiles.)
How long did it take you to get used to each other?
Anthony: To be honest, there was no time to get used to and consider each other, because we immediately threw ourselves headlong into the work process: preparing for the broadcast during the broadcast, rehearsing stage actions during the events themselves, cheerfully running around the red carpet various awards, accepting them on the way or they passed them on to someone else, toured the cities, gave interviews, organized big parties, met fans… When to get used to each other? Find time for a healthy and well-done sleep! (Smiling.)
Does broadcast quality depend on building the right working relationships between the team?
Dima: Of course, the climate in the team greatly affects the magic of the ether. In recorded programs, the director can always edit in such a way that the listener will never guess that the presenters, sweetly smiling at each other, are actually sworn enemies. Live, all emotions and mood are instantly read by the listener. And if there is a certain amount of tension in the air in the studio, they will quickly feel it and move to another wave, where there is mutual understanding between colleagues and a healthy atmosphere. In personal communication, we support each other 100% and try to be not only colleagues, but also friends.
Anthony: We don’t follow the rules! That’s probably why it works so well. Working relationships are above all mutual respect and full mutual assistance. And the most important factor is getting high from the time spent together! If there is no fun together, you can spend many years building relationships, but all this is “injection into the prosthesis”, that is, in vain!

Every morning you will be the whole country with your positivity and humor. How do you get on the air?
Pauline: The setting starts from the first second of waking up. I have an alarm clock with the name: “Polina, it’s time to get up and wake up the whole country!”. After that, the mood is automatically already at its maximum, you understand how important it is to be in good shape, resources and work out a live broadcast and give one hundred percent. On the way to work, while driving, I do speech exercises: tongue twisters, breathing – all this helps me wake up completely.
Dima: Russian peppers are a way of thinking. We try to see only the good and positive in everything. Of course, there are times when our battery dies for a while, but luckily it doesn’t happen to everyone at the same time. And in this case, when the microphone turns on and Anton says “Good morning, delicacies” to the whole country, I personally will forget that I didn’t sleep today or someone locked me in the parking lot near the house, etc. The air will charge for the whole day not only you, dear listeners, but also us!
Do you have any traditions before starting work?
Pauline: Necessarily! It is mutual hugs and jokes that give us the right and right attitude to work throughout the live broadcast.
Anthony: Morning coffee together after coming to work. Someone always brings something tasty… Of course it may seem trivial and I can say exactly what the fans want to hear… So every morning, 666 seconds before the broadcast, we sit on the floor in the darkest room, in a chalk circle , put your hands together and start singing our anthem so loud that the candles we’ve placed around the room go out! (Laughter.)
Dima: I don’t, I don’t have time to do anything in the morning. My tradition is to arrive at the studio on time and “tape” the entire broadcast so that everything sounds beautiful and there are no pauses.
Does the quality of the team suffer when one of you is not on the air?
Dima: As you know, we have no irreplaceable ones. Of course, the show must go on even if someone is missing, and we will do everything we can to make up for the lack of studio staff. But of course, our show is three people. This is a recipe for success, a harmonious combination of beauty, erudition and humor. But I would, of course, wish that it was the Zhukov-Morozov-Yuriev line-up, which listeners later called “golden” over the years.
Pauline: Interest Ask. I think that the quality of the show itself cannot suffer, but our inner feeling – yes. After all, we are a team and each of us has a task of course. And anyway, we miss each other without each other.

What is more important to a radio host – the right voice or a sense of humor?
Anthony: And here opinions differ! It seems to me that the cooler the talents are and the more there are, the clearer the show is with their daily use… Choosing from them, more importantly, is just a waste of time!
Dima: As a speech teacher and speaker with extensive experience, I believe that voice is very important. Of course, humor is also important, but still the voice is more important in radio and sometimes it doesn’t matter what you say, just talk and the listeners will already be excited by the vibe of the radio host’s timbre.
What do you think is the originality of this show? Why do listeners like the radio show?
Anthony: We speak the same language and breathe the same air! We have the same everyday problems, we can complain, you can have a great time with us and laugh and cry with joy… We are their friends and we appreciate it very much!
Pauline: We are honest and real, we don’t play a role during the broadcast, we are live people, just like our listeners. I think that’s exactly what he feels, because honesty always attracts. In addition, we have interesting broadcasts, funny news, great topics, great interactivity, contests and star guests come to us, whose broadcast is not just a banal question and answer, but a real show.
Dima: Host of “Russian Peppers” is not a position, it’s a title. It has to be earned. One has to be super professional both in broadcasting, technically and humanly: be a good psychologist, interviewer, have acting skills and above all not be boring and the same.
How do you perceive hate? Have you come across any negative comments?
Pauline: To be honest, it’s almost gone. At the very beginning I even resented reading the various comments, but I just understood the nature of them. One can only pity and sympathize with the person who writes hate. It always amazes me how people have time for such nonsense?! That’s why I don’t pay attention to such comments now, I bring positive things to people, that’s my choice, good attracts good!
Dima: Of course, there was hatred, and the first weeks after the change in the composition of the program, the listeners were at a loss, refusing to accept our trio. And this is understandable, it is very difficult to switch and get used to something unknown. But after a while we received a huge number of SMS saying “Forgive me for the hate, I was angry at first, but now I can’t find my morning without you! You’re the best!”. Now I’m not lying, I have screenshots.
