Today, the body of the founder of the Elk and Firefly Theater in St. Petersburg was found in the Black Sea on the border of Georgia. “We regret to inform you that Irina has been found dead. The search has been completed but we cannot release the details. We deeply regret what happened and express our condolences to the relatives and friends,” said the volunteer center where they oversaw the search and rescue operation.
The tragedy occurred in the seaside resort of Kobuleti. Irina was swept into the sea on February 22 while walking with a friend and a dog named Greta. At some point, a wave lifted the animal. The girls jumped into the cold water to save their pet, but the strong waves prevented them from doing so.

A friend of the founder of the theater managed to return to the shore, she was taken to the hospital, and now her life is no longer in danger. But Irina could not get out of the water.

A search for Slyusar was organized, the team included not only volunteers, but also employees of the local rescue service. Due to the bad weather, the hope of finding a living native of Minsk faded every day, although the search was launched not only in Kabuleti, but also in the surrounding area.

In addition to the private St. Petersburg children’s theater “Moose and Firefly”, Irina participated in the projects of the bookstore “Subscription Editions” and collaborated with the publishing house Polyandria. Slyusar’s relatives were shocked by her death, they said that the girl lived in Georgia for about a year – the businesswoman moved there from Russia in March 2022. Irina was happy with life on the sea coast and walked along the beach with her pet almost every day.
